-What is your full name?
My full name is IELTS EZ, but you can call me Ez for short
-Can I see your ID?
Of course, here you are
-Where are you from?
I’m from a small town called Brockenhurst, it’s 2 hours by train from London
-Do you work or study?
I have graduated already but I’m unable to find a job right now
–Do you watch TV?
Yes I do watch TV but only occasionally. Nowadays I use internet more because it is much more interactive and flexible
-What programs do you like to watch?
I only watch things that I cannot find on the internet for example exclusive movies, copyrighted gameshows to name but a few
-Did you ever buy something advertised on TV or online?
Yes I have done that before, twice I think. I once purchased an IELTS preparation book which was advertised on the teli but it turned out to be not as good as they guaranteed. Then I got a T-shirt from an online store which I think is very good value for the money
-What do you think about street advertisements?
Well, I think they are very interesting and necessary. First, they are there to help with the market, you know, brand names are advertised and customers gain awareness about them. And they can be seen as decoration for the streets. What I find interesting about them is that many of the ads are really smart and fun to look at. And in my opinion a street is better-looking with good advertisements
-Do you like to watch the sky?
Yes, watching the sky is one of my favourite things to do when I am free
-Do you prefer the sky during the day or night?
I would prefer stargazing at night. The night sky in my place is just gorgeous
-Have you learnt any courses about stars
Well no, not really, although I’m a big fan of astronomy and astrology as well. I just don’t have time for them to be honest
-Where is a good place to watch stars?
The best place for stargazing should be places without any light. It should be at least 20 km from any brightly-lit city and of course the reason is that the light on the ground will prevent you from seeing the stars. Other than that I think the place should be clear of trees and other obstacles
Describe a time that you and your friend had a disagreement
You should say:
-When this happened
-Who you disagreed with
-What you and your friend argued about
and if you two solved the disagreement in the end
I have had quite a number of disagreements with the people I know before. But the one that I remember the most would be the quarrel I once had with my best friend not so long ago. Well , it was a silly argument about what he had done to me in the game Pirate Kings. And I think you might have heard of this game if you own a smartphone and are a bit of a tech-savvy. And the way you play this game is to visit and destroy other people’s base and then use the money to develop your own base. So basically the game aims to create a massive frustration when one morning you visit your fortress and see that everything has been totally wrecked by someone and all you want is the chance to take revenge on that person. That is exactly what happened between my best friend and I. We both play the game and had an agreement not to destroy each other’s base. But one night, he lacked some money to progress to the next level and decided to stab me in the back by taking all my hard-earned money and other treasure as well. Once I knew who was behind the attack, I immediately ran to him and expressed my rage to him in a very offensive manner. We were both very angry because he said that best friends should not argue over such silly games as Pirate Kings. But my argument is that best friends should not betray each other, even with the smallest thing. Anyway, after a few days not talking to each other, I started to realise how wrong I was to pick a fight with him for such rubbish reasons. And decided to call him and apologise
– Are you a person who often disagrees with others?
Well it depends on the situation but I would say that I don’t disagree with people very frequently.
-How do usually feel when others disagree with you?
Well most of the time I feel normal because I understand the fact that people can’t always reach an agreement or mutual understanding. However I must admit that sometimes I do feel annoyed when things don’t go my way and that’s when people just don’t think that I am right. But again I am pretty much ok in most occasions
-Do you like to hear different opinions
Sure, I am an open-minded person and I would like to participate in discussions and listen to a multitude of ideas before reaching any decision or conclusion. It is obvious that we live in a diverse environment, every body is a unique individual with different mentalities
-Do schools in Vietnam teach critical thinking?
It is a very disturbing fact that we currently don’t have that subject in school. I am very concerned about this because to me critical thinking is such a necessary skill to push us forwards and encourage advancement and we are not teaching student that skill.
